World & Cells
Setting
Uprising Legends is set in Shinsekai — a near-future, cyberpunk reimagining of the Philippine archipelago under the occupation of the Colonists, a corporate-military power that rules through corporate fronts, ancient-relic excavations, and control of the infrastructure. Beneath the neon and the occupation runs a resistance built from regional cells, ancestral knowledge, and spirits of Filipino myth (the Famions).
The campaign traces the uprising from the slums of Tondo to the Void Gate — the prison of the trapped god Sitan — across twelve arcs. See Progression for the full arc-by-arc campaign map.
⚠️ A hero has two axes that are easy to confuse — keep them separate. Their element decides combat (the type-advantage wheel). Their cell is who they are — their resistance group and origin. Cells never touch combat damage; they drive lore, unlock cost, the gacha elite tier, colours, and the squad cell bonus.
The five cells
A hero belongs to exactly one cell.
| Cell | Region | Heroes | Colour | Identity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seishi | Maharlika / Visayana | 6 | Gold | Elite cell — the main characters. One-of-one artwork. |
| Redacted | (hidden) | 7 | Grey | Elite operatives whose allegiance is scrubbed from the record — spies running dark. |
| Xinghuo "The Battle Cry" | NCR / NeoManila | 9 | Orange | Urban guerrillas. |
| Centinela "The Guardians" | Kasanagan / Mindanao | 9 | Green | Nature warriors, ancestral-knowledge keepers. |
| Archive "The Forgers" | Kagayaku / North Luzon | 9 | Blue | Tech underground, engineers, pirate networks. |
| Gagamba "The Spyders" | Everywhere | (future) | — | Infiltrators inside the Colonist hierarchy — where the Redacted are rumoured to belong. |
Seishi + Redacted are the 13 elite heroes (the one-of-one roster): they cost more to unlock and make up the 15% gacha elite tier. The three regional cells are the cheaper, standard tier.
The Redacted cell is deliberately mysterious: those heroes show a censored
REDACTED tag instead of an origin — and they're loners, never contributing to a
squad cell bonus.
Combat badges (lore flavour)
Three older "badges" survive purely as flavour in the lore — they are not a game system (combat is elements, identity is cells):
| Badge | Meaning | Theme |
|---|---|---|
| Araw | Sun / orange | Offensive imagery |
| Halimuyak | Fragrance / green | Nature, support imagery |
| Pluma | Pen / blue | Tech, knowledge imagery |
What cells do (and don't)
Do:
- Drive lore, backstories, and regional identity
- Set hero unlock cost (Seishi/Redacted cost more; the regional cells are cheap)
- Define the gacha elite tier (the 15% pool = Seishi + Redacted)
- Colour a hero's card and detail view
- Grant the squad cell bonus (team-building synergy)
Don't:
- ❌ Grant any combat damage advantage — that is entirely elements.
